How LALAPANZI was born...

Andre and Gerda (the owners of LALAPANZI) have always wanted a house in the bush, That "one day i want to live in the bush" kind of dream - and to be able to smell thatch grass when you open the doors.

In January 2013, they were blessed to be in this part of the world for a week, at Ngwenya Lodge. The Crocodile River was in flood, due to heavy rain that season and all bridges and entry points to the Kruger were closed. So Andre and Gerda decided to drive around and explore this awesome part of Mpumalanga.

Driving through the gate of Marloth Park, seeing all over lush green bushveld, knee-high grass and hundreds off all kinds of antelope with newborn babies, they were convinced that they had found paradise!

Falling in love with Marloth Park was very easy!!

Then, that one day  “I want a house and live in the bush“  seemed so real...

In March 2013, they purchased a piece of land in Marloth Park and now their dream, seemed to become reality.

In 2014 they started building, the idea of building Lalapanzi was originally more intended for a holiday home for their extended family.

The name LALAPANZI was given to this new {place in paradise}.

The translation of  LALAPANZI  means "lay  down to sleep" in African language and this name had a very sentimental meaning close to their hearts.

LALAPANZI  was still in its infancy at that time, when people wanted to rent LALAPANZI to get out of the rat race from the City. This was when the idea was born... Why not share our amazing home with others who need a break and need to relax in this awesome paradise.

Andre and Gerda were always in love with Marloth ,it felt like home. Back then, Gerda slowly became a part of LALAPANZI and made LALAPANZI her dream home by putting in her personal taste and her touch.

Just to wake up every morning in LALAPANZI and to listen to THE CALL OF AFRICA, while sipping on some coffee, listening to Hippo`s moaning in the river and all kind of birds, makes you feel relaxed and very satisfied with life.

In the evenings when the fire in the Boma is burning and you are looking at the most amazing sunsets over the bush. The sky is red and looks like it is on fire against the silhouettes of the knob trees. All the while sipping on a G&T and thinking how blessed they are to call LALAPANZI their HOME.

You know life is good in paradise!
